The West Somerset Steam Railway runs a regular 22 mile service from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard, stopping at Doniford Halt, 400 metres from Doniford Meadow Bungalows.

The countryside around Doniford is officially an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, offering superb opportunities for families, walkers, cyclists, bird watchers, artists and photographers. In the winter it is an ideal base for Bridgwater Carnival.

Nearby are many unspoilt villages to be explored, as well as the well known names of Watchet, Minehead, Dunster, Porlock, etc; Cheddar Caves, Wookey Hole, Bath, Glastonbury and Wells are with in easy reach. Doniford is an ideal base for exploring the South West of England and even parts of Wales.

  • Shopping: The nearest shops are just a mile away at Williton or Watchet. These include all the normal food shops, newsagents and a pharmacy. The Co-op supermarkets are open 7 days a week (0800-2200 Monday to Saturday &1000-1600 Sunday).
  • Sea Fishing: From Doniford, and Blue Anchor. Bait can be dug or bought in Watchet. Boats can be hired from Watchet Marina.
  • Bathing: Beaches are at Blue Anchor, Dunster and Minehead. You can bathe at Doniford, although it is a bit rocky, which makes it an ideal place to explore for small marine life and fossils as the tide ebbs.
  • Horses, Bikes, Golf, Tennis and a Swimming Pool are all available locally.
  • Tropiquaria Animal and Adventure Park is a great day out for adults and children of all ages. Or why not try your luck looking for "Jurassic" fossils down on the beach at Doniford Bay.
